What is Profhilo and what are its benefits?

Many people are turning to dermal fillers for skin laxity, but Profhilo is not a typical filler. It’s made from Hyaluronic Acid Gel that reduces the signs of aging by boosting your own  natural production of collagen  and increasing elasticity all while providing your skin with an instant injection of hydration. Profhilo is a unique skin remodelling treatment that offers a dual benefit-

How does profhilo work?

HA is hydrophilic, meaning it draws and holds water from your body. This property makes Profhilo a fantastic hydrator rather than filler for those with tired skin that needs reviving; after 3-5 days of treatment you’ll see firm luminous skin in its place. Over a few weeks profhilo also stimulates collage and elastin formation, producing the effect of skin  tightening.  This helps to rebalance the vital antiaging proteins that we lose as we age; from our mid 20s collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid levels drop which causes signs of aging to develop such as fine lines, sagging and wrinkles. Profhilo works to reverse these changes. Profhilo effects continues to improve after treatment reaching maximal effect around 2 months after the second treatment.

There is very little downtime from this treatment allowing you can carry on as normal, but with the knowledge that Profhilo is working from within to give you the results you desire.

What is the difference between Profhilo and Dermal fillers ?

Dermal fillers, also contain hyaluronic acid but their formulation is designed to volumize specific targeted areas where there is a loss of volume  so  the results with fillers tend to be localised . The filler gel  stays in the area where it has been injected. However Hyaluronic Acid in profhilo  is different. Once injected into your skin from tiny needle-pricks that literally take seconds to administer, it disperses evenly throughout  your face giving an  even, smoother and rejuvenated look.

 The Procedure
The procedure is carried out by DR Anna Puri .Following your consultation with Dr Anna, on the day of treatment your skin will be prepped  with a topical numbing cream.        With the use of a very fine disposable needle, Profhilo® is injected using a technique called BAP (Bio Aesthetic points) where 5 implant points are injected on each side of the face. This solution will then diffuse through your skin tissue  and you’ll be able to see an imporvement in skin hydration and skin texture within 3-5 days of treatment.  Optimal results are seen two months post-treatment with an Optimal Skin Improvement Course containing 2 treatments that should occur four to five weeks apart for optimal effects.

How much profhilo is required?

You will require 2 mls spread over 10 injection points. At the start, you will need two induction sessions one month apart then one session every 5-7 months for maintenance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Is Profhilo painful?

The injections can mildly sting but patients generally report only mild discomfort. After the treatment, you may experience some light  tenderness for the first 24 – 48 hours this shouldn’t interfere with your daily activities.
