3 Top Tips for Glowing Skin This Summer

Make your skin glow this summer with our super simple tips below. You’ll be amazed at how making a few simple changes can lead to radiant-looking skin in a matter of days!

Make hydration the foundation of your routine

Glowing skin starts with hydration, and one of the best ways to ensure your skin isn’t dehydrated is to use a serum. A serum will achieve this, thanks to its small molecular size, allowing it to quickly penetrate the skin and deliver active ingredients such as the humectant, hyaluronic acid.

But the benefits of hyaluronic acid serums don’t end there. Serums containing antioxidants like fortify your skin’s natural skin barrier, protecting its delicate texture from free radical damage. Antioxidants such as Vitamin E are known as emollients, means they lock in the moisture that ingredients such as hyaluronic acid attract. Humectants and emollients are a matchmade in heaven, so make sure you choose a serum that encompasses both!

Restore life to the eye area

The skin around the eyes is generally the first area to give away signs of fatigue, skin dehydration, dullness, and ageing. This is because it’s thinner, drier, and therefore more prone to wrinkle creation. Did you know, the skin on your eyelids is the thinnest area of skin on the entire body? This area of skin also retains significant fluid and fat build up, leading to visible puffiness.

Using a product specifically geared towards the delicate eye area will make a huge difference to your overall facial aesthetic, battling the skin ailments above.

As we’re talking about skin glow and brightening in this blog, we recommend a Vitamin C-based eye cream, which will visibly illuminate dark under-eye circles. Hesperidin (also known as Vitamin P) is another very successful antidote for under eye darkness, suppressing melanin synthesis (great for skin types prone to pigmentation).

Make sure you apply your eye cream after your serum, but not before your face moisturiser!

Eat yourself to glowing skin

You can use all the skincare products in the world, but if your diet isn’t supporting your skin integrity, you’re very unlikely to see any benefits of the ingredients within those products.

Great skin starts with good health, which means nourishing it from the inside out. Whilst there are certain foods that will benefit specific skin conditions (watch this space for a future blog on this topic!), there are some that benefit you regardless on your skin type:

Ginger: an all-round hero ingredient for all skin types, ginger is both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory.

Chia seeds: pop some of these on your morning porridge, cereal or yoghurt, and benefit from its omega-3 fatty acids, which will generate the foundations for cell renewal and function. Fatty acids within your skin’s makeup = wrinkle-free and glowing, dewy-looking skin.

Nuts

Almonds, walnuts, and hazelnuts are excellent sources of vitamin E, which helps to protect skin cells from UV damage (remember we mentioned this type of free radical protection above?).

As well as being delicious, they’re also full of essential minerals like zinc, which helps to heal blemishes and reduce general skin inflammation which might otherwise lead to skin redness.
